James Hulme

Profile

After moving to the northern rivers in 2004 James graduated high school and university, travelled the world, spent the last 20 years learning to surf and became a father. He now lives and works in Jungle Ballina.

You’ll find him in the gym training mostly early morning sessions.

A father, surfer and explorer of our beautiful hinterland, James’s favourite thing to eat post workout is a red papaya with fresh squeezed lime on top.

James has been involved in many community groups and organisations including the Uncle Project, Suffolk Park Football Club, Stone & Wood Brewing and forming a not-for-profit community group Men’s Health Byron Bay.

In 2019 he completed a master’s degree of Clinical Exercise Physiology at Southern Cross University and spent the past few years building his experience to help motivate people working with depression and anxiety to make sustainable improvements with their health and well-being.

He fell in-love with the Jungle community in February 2023 because our ethos is to nurture everyone in our tribe to become the best versions of themselves with pride and humility. He has so much more room to grow here and so much more to give.

For many years he’s worked on rebuilding his own mental health, and I has been lucky enough to have the education and skill set to develop coping strategies when times get tough.

James strongly believes in the power of exercise as a tool for managing stress, anxiety, and depression, particularly among men.

His goal is to create a positive impact by promoting mental wellness and guiding people towards a healthier lifestyle. He has been dedicated to helping people level up their health and well-being through exercise and other lifestyle changes. With a deep understanding of the human body and mind, James creates personalised exercise programs and provides support to empower others on their journey to optimal mental health.
